Thank You for a Successful FY 2024

A Message from the Executive Director

Dear Members and Friends,

As we close the fiscal year 2024, I want to thank you for your continued support and participation in our conferences and workshops. Despite the challenges and uncertainties of the pandemic, we were able to offer you valuable learning opportunities and networking events throughout the year. We appreciate your feedback and suggestions on how to improve our services and programs.

I also want to express my heartfelt condolences and well wishes to anyone affected by the severe weather that hit Oklahoma in May. I know many of you experienced power outages, flooding, and damage to your homes and schools. I hope you and your loved ones are safe and recovering from this disaster. Please know that we are here to support you in any way we can.

On a positive note, I congratulate two outstanding members who received prestigious awards this year. Kevin Hime, superintendent of Lawton Public Schools, was named the 2024 Oklahoma Educators Hall of Fame. Mr. Hime has been a visionary leader and a strong advocate for public education in our state. Kevin was OKASBO’s president in 2016-17.

Dr. Channa Byerly, superintendent of Duncan Public Schools, was named the 2024 OASA District 15 Superintendent of the Year by the Oklahoma Association of School Administrators. Dr. Byerly has been an innovative and collaborative leader who has led her district through growth and excellence. She has also been a mentor and a role model for many aspiring administrators. Channa has also been named part of the 37^th Leadership Oklahoma Class. Dr. Byerly is a current OKASBO Board member.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Hime and Dr. Byerly on their well-deserved recognition. They are examples of the high-quality leadership and professionalism we strive to promote and celebrate in our organization.

As we look ahead to the fiscal year 2025, I want to assure you that the Board and I are working hard to plan and prepare for the next round of conferences and workshops. We are excited to offer you new topics, speakers, and formats to enhance your professional development and personal growth. Please watch for eblasts announcing the dates and details of the upcoming events. We hope to see you at our next conference in September.
